Heading to from Tokyo to Okinawa via All Nippon through Narita Airport.
Having a few slurps of noodles at the airporte before our flight.
One last round of Tokyo sushi
It's impossible NOT to make noise eating these things!!
Friday, July 27. We wake up to a haze across Okinawa City. Looking out our balcony. In the background is the Pacific Ocean.
After doing the laundry, getting a rental car and finding our way out of the hotel, we spent the day going to military installations where Woody had served. He spent his last tour before going to the Pentagon as the head of the JAG unit for all the bases in Okinawa. We have been amazed to see how far he actually rode his bicycle. I cannot imagine what he must have smelled like when he got from one base to another!!
This started out as the girls' least favorite day. I asked them to please spend the day with their daddy with a willing heart and a smile on their face. After Ellie finished Harry Potter in the back seat, she actually enjoyed the afternoon.
View from the O Club at Camp Courtney. Col. housing
in the right of picture. Not a bad view from any direction.
Camp Courtney
Boy does our Uncle own some valuable real estate!!!
Firing range at Camp Hansen. Beautiful target!!
Other side of the island - South China Sea
I hated that the haze prohibited a good picture.
The water is beautiful.
The girls were so excited to be able to pass on sushi and
noodles and have a "real" meal!!
MAMA!! That's the windshield wipers NOT the turn signal.
I had a devil of a time keeping the two straight. Driving on the left side of the road was fairly easy as long as I had a car in front of me. It's when I had to make a quick decision with nobody to follow that I had a hard time.
Gate 1 at Kadena
We had another American meal at the O Club
at Kadena. Steak, Mahi Mahi and Lamb Chops.
That became the joke of the evening. Tyler had told us that the Japanese have a hard time distinguishing between "l" and "r." This one just made us laugh.
Glad to get back home to our hotel. A view from our balcony
We plan to hit the beach tomorrow for a little snorkeling. Hope the weather is pretty.
